EU Parliament 2 Dec. 2008 : MEPs in the Civil Liberties Committee expressed their concern on Tuesday over the “high number of fundamental rights violations in the EU” , pointing to instances of serious discrimination against minorities and threats to privacy. They also urged EU Institutions and Member States to cooperate in the field of immigration and asylum. MEPs point out that over these last few years, the fight against terrorism has often served to diminish the level of protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
CIA activities in Europe : Member States deaf to EPs recommendations
“Rather than focusing all their efforts on preventing illegal immigration”, which led to “deploying a growing range of frontier checks” MEPs say, EU Institutions and Member States should introduce “effective, long term and legal migration policies” and “more flexible and coordinated rules” for asylum seekers. The committee also condemns “the lack of effective integration policies”, causing “the exclusion of hundreds of thousands of non-nationals”, putting them “in a vulnerable position, opening the way to radicalisation, trafficking and other forms of exploitation”.
The Mail Online 3 Dec. 2008 : State officials (in the UK) are to be given powers previously reserved for times of war to demand a person’s proof of identity at any time. Anybody who refuses the Big Brother demand could face arrest and a possible prison sentence. They are presented as a crackdown on illegal immigration, but lawyers say they could be applied to anybody who has ever been outside the UK, even on holiday.
The move would effectively take Britain back to the Second World War, when people were stopped and asked to ‘show their papers’.
EurActiv 3. Dec. 2008: In 2007, the European Commission wrote to fourteen member states indicating its dissatisfaction with the lack of sufficient transposition, warning of repercussions. The report argues that there is an “increasingly visible negative public perception of migration and migrants across Europe” and that a number of policies have been pursued by governments that “negatively impact on the lives of migrants in member states and suggest an acceptance of migrants as second-class citizens“.
Extremism and racism are on the rise throughout Europe and racist political discourse is increasingly common in mainstream European politics, finds a report published on 1 December by the European Network Against Racism (ENAR). According to the data collected, there is “increasing evidence of public acceptance of racist crime and mistreatment of ethnic and religious minorities, including within the police and other relevant authorities“. The document draws on 25 national reports prepared by ENAR members across the EU
Mohammed Aziz, ENAR’s president, said the report “demonstrates that racism is a pervasive, persistent phenomenon across the EU which impacts negatively on all aspects of the lives of ethnic and religious minorities”. “We urge EU decision makers to adopt a collaborative European approach to addressing the issue of racism,” he continued, underlining that effectiveness must be enhanced through careful monitoring and sanctions.
An ENAR spokesperson said policies must be based on a “human rights approach” and needed to ensure that there is no “negative narrative on migration“.
“Little progress has been made by governments in responding to issues faced by ethnic and religious minority groups as a result of counter terrorism measures and racial profiling,” the report observes.
The issue with counter-terrorism measures is that they tend to “stigmatise Muslim communities and equate Islam with terrorism,” an ENAR spokesperson explained. ENAR also hopes to see an end to racial profiling activities which are carried out “without justification,” the spokesperson added.
Terrorism comes from immigrants. So, why does the EU go on letting them in great numbers – and clamps down on those who want to limit immigration (Denmark, e.g.)? Something indicates it is the ingenuous populations – and not the immigrants – who are being targeted by the war on terror!
We have to do as the Muslims want us to do – or face sanctions, i.e. 1- 3 years of prison according to the EU´s Framework Decision on Racism and Xenophobia. In this case the EU will have to build FEMA camps as in the US. For I suppose the EU will have to put about 50% of its populations into such prison camps to meet the demands of the innocent master race, the Muslims.
Because we have to pay dearly for nourishing unproductive immigrants the ongoing economical crisis can easily destroy our social states and raise protests – as in Greece. This is exacctly what the president of the IMF, Strauss-Kahn warns about in the Times Online on 16 Dec. 2008 in criticizing the policy of the eurozone. His criticism hits Germany in particular. In Sweden and Denmark the costs of immigration were 30% of the national budgets in 2001.
Therefore, remote searches of suspect computers will form part of an EU plan to tackle hi-tech crime (BBC, 1 Dec. 2008). The five-year action plan will take steps to combat the growth in cyber theft and the machines used to spread spam and other malicious programs. It will also encourage better sharing of data among European police forces to track down and prosecute criminals. The five-year plan won the backing of the EU ministers at a meeting which also granted 300,000 euros (£250,000) to Europol and here to create the system to pool crime reports and issue alerts about emerging threats. The ministerial meeting also backed the anti-cyber crime strategy that will see the creation of cross-border investigation teams and sanction the use of virtual patrols to police some areas of the net.
Therefore, internet-Neutrality is threatened: Corporative control is coming
Wall Street Journal 15 Dec. 2008: Microsoft has left its policy of internet neutrality.
Microsoft has a deal to provide software for AT&T’s Internet television service. Its about “fast lanes”.
AT&T is closely affiliated to Senator Jay Rockefeller: The Rockefeller-led Senate Intelligence Committee is marking up a bill to re-amend the nation’s spy laws. While the text of the bill has not yet been released, the bill reportedly includes a way for the telecoms to escape the litigation against them for spying on the Americans.
Amazon’s popular digital-reading device, called the Kindle, offers a dedicated, faster download service. That has prompted questions in the blogosphere about whether the service violates network neutrality.
Yahoo now has a digital subscriber-line partnership with AT&T. Some have speculated that the deal has caused Yahoo to go silent on the network-neutrality issue.
Google Inc. has approached major cable and phone companies that carry Internet traffic with a proposal to create a fast lane for its own content.
At risk is a principle known as network neutrality: Cable and phone companies that operate the data pipelines are supposed to treat all traffic the same. In the worst-case scenario, the Internet could become a medium where large companies, such as Comcast Corp. in cable television, would control both distribution and content –– and much of what users can access, according to neutrality advocates.
Lawrence Lessig, an Obama adviser, is a candidate to head the Federal Communications Commission, which regulates the telecommunications industry. Since the election campaign he has shifted to favour the paid internet fast lane.
Therefore: Robot detectors Video. Although this is from the US I think it is relevant here, too, since it shows the future of democracy. The New Scientist 22. okt. 2008
(I did see this on the SBIR then – now the article has been removed!!): They are looking for contractors to provide a “Multi-Robot Pursuit System” that will let packs of robots “search for and detect a non-cooperative human”. Having a pack of them controlled by one person makes logistical sense.Given that iRobot last year struck a deal with Taser International to mount stun weapons on its military robots, how long before we see packs of droids hunting down pesky demonstrators with paralysing weapons? Or could the packs even be lethally armed?
I asked two experts on automated weapons what they thought. Both were concerned that packs of robots would be entrusted with tasks – and weapons – they were not up to handling without making wrong decisions.
Steve Wright of Leeds Metropolitan University: “What we have here are the beginnings of something designed to enable robots to hunt down humans like a pack of dogs. Once the software is perfected we can reasonably anticipate that they will become autonomous and become armed.”
We can also expect such systems to be equipped with human detection and tracking devices including sensors which detect human breath and the radio waves associated with a human heart beat. These are technologies already developed.”
Global Research Dec. 2, 2008: The U.S. military expects to have 20,000 uniformed troops inside the United States by 2011 trained to help state and local officials respond to a nuclear terrorist attack or other domestic catastrophe, according to Pentagon officials.
The Pentagon‘s plan calls for three rapid-reaction forces to be ready for emergency response by September 2011. The first 4,700-person unit, built around an active-duty combat brigade based at Fort Stewart, Ga., was available as of Oct. 1, said Gen. Victor E. Renuart Jr., commander of the U.S. Northern Command.
Many think these troops are meant to prevent domestic rebellions in connection with a coming aggravation of the economic crisis – as predicted bt Gerald Celente.
The Possibility that we may all have to have our DNA-profiles deposited at a central institute may not be far away.
Databases and information sharing in the UK and Germany – even within the EU are being developed: here . ECHELON interception of communications at all levels has been developed – as well as a database for storing all UK´s Telephone conversations and e-mails . Even unmanned drones are being planned to observe us.
So, whether we like it or not, the almighty EU superstate will have plenty of fancy means to control our every movement and every uttered thought so as to secure its objectives: The multicultural cosmopolitan EU empire, the forerunner and model of the world government where Islam is the chosen religion. Opposing that is going to become risky – and decadent, rich Europeans will not even want to oppose this dictatorship – unless the ongoing economic and other crises makes them desperate with hunger!
